Boats on Belfast Bay
20" x 10" Oil On Stretched Canvas
Boats bobbing in the breeze on the blue waters of Belfast Bay.
After living in Michigan for a few years I was used to seeing boats tied to docks when not in use. When I first saw empty boats tied to buoys in the bay it was a surprise. A lane is left clear for tug boats and cruise ships to pass and dock.
In this painting there are misty clouds gathering just beyond Islesboro in the distance. Many boats sit empty gently bobbing in the waves. In the foreground the rocks peek above the shallow waters where gulls perch and swim.
