King parrot

This painting is of a male King parrot, also referred to as an Australian King, and Eastern King, as Queensland King, a King Lory, Scarlet Parrot and Green Parrot. Only the males have the bright red-orange head. They have green wings and tail and a blue body with a red chest.   The females are green as are the young. These birds are found only in Australia and for the most part the Eastern side in the forests and the humid woodland areas. 

It's rare to find them as household pets outside of Australia.  They have limited talking abilities but will bond with humans if hand raised.

 8" x 8" Stretched canvas done in oil. Edges are painted for frameless display.
